There are many who have a heart and a passion for missions, but they don’t feel called to the mission field. These faithful Christians still serve vital roles in advancing the cause of sharing the Gospel with every person. If you want to be involved in global missions in a way that doesn’t involve going on a trip overseas, there are many opportunities. We wanted to talk about 12 ways you can serve with Team Expansion without becoming a missionary.
Be a Prayer Warrior
One of the most vital ways we hope everyone will serve is through committed prayer. We believe nothing of significance happens without prayer. Would you join our Prayer Force and begin praying over the needs of Team Expansion, our workers, and the Unreached People around the world?
Help with Missionary Kids
We often have a missionary family visit our campus while they’re on home service (something our missionaries do as needed to refresh and reconnect with their families, supporters, and sending churches). During this time, the parents stay busy meeting and debriefing with each department. We’ve created intentional programming to give a meaningful experience for their children. We need volunteers to join our Missionary Kid director to make this programming possible. No experience is needed, just a love for working with children.
During special events and trainings, held multiple times throughout the year, we need additional childcare support. If you enjoy working with kids, this is a much needed way to assist our families as they seek to thrive on the field.
Most of these opportunities are during regular office hours. Learn more about serving Missionary Kids.
Prepare Meals
During special events, trainings, and visits we often provide meals for the participants. We need volunteers who can come during these events, help prepare and serve a meal, and clean up afterward. It’s a great way for groups to serve together. Most of these opportunities are during the week, at lunchtime. Learn more about volunteering through preparing meals.
We Need Skilled Designers, Photographer, and Videographers
If you enjoy and have a skill for design, photography or videography, our communications team needs you! Volunteer your talents to help create resources that will be used to mobilize, train, and empower workers. You could help with a singular project or event, or you could make this a weekly volunteer opportunity. Fill out this form if you might be interested and we can start a conversation!
Become a Sender
Everyone can be a sender. If you believe that God is the one sending people to share the Gospel with those who have never heard it, be a part of getting them to the field! We can connect you with a worker currently serving or a worker who is fundraising to get to the field. There’s not a set amount one needs to donate, each missionary makes it the field thanks to a team of cheerful givers who give at a variety of levels. Every gift makes an impact!
You can also give to our general fund or a special project.
Become an Advocate and Mobilizer
There are many Christians who have never considered becoming a missionary. We often need someone who make it real. Who tells us to pray about it. You could be that person. People are called to the field at all ages. Young adults, young families, retirees and everyone in between. If you want to do this with intentionality, there are several ways you can do this.

Be an Administrative Volunteer
Many of our missionaries would greatly benefit from Administrative Assistance. This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity that could be multiple times a week or just once a month, depending on your availability. You can assist a missionary, department, or program with necessary reporting. All of our missionaries send monthly newsletters and many need assistance preparing and sending these. This opportunity will look a little different depending on the needs of the missionary and your willingness and availability.
Be a Host Home
We primarily need host homes as near as possible to our campus for easy access for our workers and trainees that visit for events. A worker’s stay in your home could range from 1 – 14+ days depending on the training and your availability. If you might be interested go here to learn more and start a conversation.
Donate Needed Supplies
If you would like to donate new or like-new supplies, this could be a great help! Our office can always use paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, plates, cups, plasticware, etc. Missionaries going to the field can often use luggage or stackable high-quality storage containers to move to their field (and survive the long plane rides). Additionally, you could donate gift cards to Kroger or Amazon. If you may be interested in helping in this way, please contact us first to see what current needs are.
Volunteer to Help Maintain our 61 Acre Campus
Team Expansion’s home office sits on 61 acres. This land is full of beautiful trails and prayer shelters that help create a memorable retreat for our workers and trainees. We are always in need of volunteers who want to help keep things beautiful. This includes: mowing, clearing trails, laying mulch, landscaping, etc. Additionally, our building needs to be constantly maintained. If you’d like to volunteer with maintaining our building, that would be a huge help!
Assist with a Campus Project
Sometimes we have special projects we need to accomplish on our campus. If you’d like to volunteer along with a group to complete a special project, please connect with us and see what our current needs might be!
