When the world is turned upside down, it might just be that God is offering you and the rest of the Church an opportunity to influence for His good. Devote approximately five minutes per Scripture passage segment for focused prayer, asking God, “What is it You would have me do in times like these?”
Praise
Psalm 61:8
Then I will ever sing in praise of your name and fulfill my vows day after day.
Wait
Psalm 40:1-2
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
Confession
Psalm 65:3
When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions.
Read the Word
Ephesians 5:5-16
For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.[a] 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
Petition
Psalm 34:17
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
Intercession
Galatians 6:2
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Pray the Word
Galatians 6:10
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Thanksgiving
Psalm 107:8-9
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind,
for he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things.
Singing
Psalm 40:3
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
Meditate
Colossians 4:5
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
Listen
Matthew 19:26
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Hebrews 5:7
During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
Praise
Psalm 63:4
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
