Read Matthew 28:16-20
This morning I had this inexplicable urge to hear my voice speaking to someone in the flesh. Yes, I’m staying connected to friends, family, and co-workers through endless phone calls, texts, instant messages, FaceTime, and Zoom. For me, however, none of these take the place of speaking to a “real” face. So, I stepped out on my deck and shouted across my backyard and across my neighbor’s backyard to get her attention as she “worked from home” on her back deck. It felt so good to hear her reply and see her smile…in the flesh. I no longer felt alone, devoid of human contact.
Jesus’s last promise to His disciples was that He would be with them (with us!) “always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28; 20b). God is with us. We are never alone. All we must do is reach out and connect to Him in prayer.
Take some time to do that now. It will be the best reminder ever that God has not forsaken you and that He will never leave you alone.
