From the Huddleston Family, Serving in Japan

What a privilege we have as followers of Jesus to introduce Him to our friends. And what a privilege it is to watch Him transform people before our eyes as they realize that He is the answer they have been seeking all along. This is the journey we have been on with one of our hockey mom friends, M-san.

When I (Jen) first met her at the skating rink about a year and a half ago, M-san struck me as a friendly, stylish person who was fun to get to know and had it all together. She seemed eager to become friends, and before long we had her family into our home and began to spend more time together. We often spent time talking while the kids were practicing hockey; through our conversations, I began to sense a deep desire for faith that was simply seeking its fulfillment – Jesus.

A Hunger For God’s Word

M-san started bringing her younger son to our monthly kids’ events, and this past winter we were excited to have the whole family join our snow camp. Not long afterward, as we sat in our living room and visited with her and her husband, she began to share even more pieces out of her painful and imperfect past. She then practically begged us to teach her more about Jesus! I gave her a Bible the next day and she later told us she stayed up most of the night reading it!

Within a few weeks, M-san joined a Bible study we were doing this summer with Sue and two of the Nozomi Project staff. M-san was just like a sponge soaking up the Word, and it overflowed so that she was naturally sharing scriptures she had read on her own as she would explain her answer to a question we were discussing. I have honestly never seen anything like it! In August, she shared with me that she had decided that this was it – she wanted to follow Jesus and be baptized. We spent some time studying more about what that decision means and just last month had the privilege of baptizing her in the Pacific.

Just the Beginning

M-san continues to fall in love with Jesus and I believe she is going to be a person who will introduce Him to her family, friends and many others. One thing I have been excited about is that she shares everything with her husband and though he is not a believer yet, he has been very supportive of her journey to faith. Please join us in celebrating and praying for M-san and for her family as she continues this journey. And let’s look around us for more who are seeking and just need an introduction to the One who holds the answers!
