Merry Christmas, Global Church!
One of the key messages of the Lausanne Movement is that the only way to move forward as a global church in mission is together. Together we are better. We can do so much more together than we could ever do alone and apart. Together is at the heart of the Christmas story. In Isaiah and in Matthew, we hear that the Savior will be called Emmanuel, God with us – God together with us. We see the idea of unity woven beautifully throughout the Christmas story – Joseph and Mary together, Mary and Elizabeth together, John the Baptizer and Jesus together. We see the heavenly hosts above and the shepherds below together. We see Old Testament prophecies together with New Testament realities. We see the very stars of the galaxy aligned in the little sky of earth – together. We see unity in the life the baby Jesus grows up to lead — together with His disciples, with His followers, with all that was happening in the world at that time. And we see Jesus promising us the Holy Spirit, whose primary job is to be with us. Jesus’s final word to His disciples is a promise of togetherness: Surely, I am with you always. And the church, so beloved by Jesus, is designed from the very beginning to embody a life together.
Let us pray for a global movement of people to Christ, as God in the flesh, Emmanuel is with us. Let us pray and seek new ways to honor and live Emmanuel this Christmas and all through the New Year.

Please pray with S and K in Asia for the Dong villages and people. Ask for connections with people of peace, effective prayer, and for protection. May the Dong people understand that unto them a Child is born, a Savior is given. He is Christ the Lord!
