by Workers in E. Europe
The team in E. Europe values prayer, and they regularly meet to intercede for their nation in their prayer room. Their growing group of Believers and seekers continually join with them to audaciously pray for God’s intervention.
One day, as they were praying, Astrid*, a woman who had been seeking and growing but was hesitant to be baptized because of her strong fear of water, showed up a bit late after they had already started praying.
During the prayer time, Zoe, one of the believers, feeling prompted by the Spirit, passionately prayed for Astrid to overcome her fear of water and make the commitment to be baptized.
As soon as they closed their prayer time, Astrid excitedly turned to Zoe and asked her, “How did you know?”
She announced that she had come to prayer to ask everyone to come over to her house as she had set up her inflatable pool to be baptized! She had already called and told all of her extended family about her decision. She received mixed responses, but this didn’t stop her in the least.
Everyone rejoiced and called those who weren’t with them and made the journey over to her house in a village right outside their city.
When they arrived, her three children and grandson were there to greet the group. Her husband was away working a construction job, but was in support of Astrid’s decision.
As they got ready for Astrid to get in the pool, one of the workers talked with her youngest son Norman who had been reading with his mom. He asked Norman if he understood what his mom was getting ready to do. Norman said that he did understand, but still had some questions.
The worker briefly explained to him the significance of water burial and raising to new life with Jesus. Norman then told exclaimed, with tears in his eyes, that the night before he had a dream where a bright white light whom he identified as Jesus had invited him to come to him!
The worker was excited, and told him that they could talk more after his mom was baptized about what that means.
Nobody expected what happened next.
A local believer and Astrid got in the pool and Astrid said yes to Jesus! As she was getting out of the pool, another seeker told the group, “I’m next.”
Everyone was shouting and praising the Lord as Astrid’s neighbors on both sides were watching from their balconies.

As soon as that baptism finished, another young man exclaimed with tears in his eyes that he was tired of waiting.
As soon as that baptism finished, another young man exclaimed with tears in his eyes that he was tired of waiting. He has been asking about baptism for a while and has been maturing. He called his mom on the phone to get her permission and then his believing cousin got with him in the pool and brought him into the family.
At this point, little Norman had tears streaming down his face and told his mom that he didn’t want to wait either! She was hesitant as she didn’t want him to do it under pressure. Then he shared his dream with her and answered every question adamantly that he believed in Jesus as his savior. They both got in the pool and she baptized her earthly son into her new spiritual family!
What a night!
