The Gayo live in the isolated central mountains of Islamic Aceh province on the island of Sumatera. Their language has 4 dialects but does not have a writing system. Folk tales, stories, and poetry are passed down in oral tradition. In the past, the Gayo were the Acehs’ slaves. Many Gayo were killed during the Dutch occupation. Since the independence of Indonesia, the Gayo have gained access to higher education, and, to some degree, participated in the Islamization and modernization of their area. Pray for harvest workers to be sent to the 332,000. Gayo. Pray for people to show Jesus to the gentle-hearted Gayo people who are desperately searching for hope and life.
Carrying the Gospel to remote villages and isolated peoples enslaved by fear and century-old Buddhism is breaking into enemy territory. Ask God to empower national believers with His armor and authority to reach every people group in Laos. (More on The Final 58)
Praise God for Taiwanese Christians and many churches that are growing. Pray for enduring growth, and for bold witnessing to family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
Pray for more opportunities for K and L (Asia) to share the gospel while under increasing pressures on believers. Ask for wisdom and discernment as regular citizens are now being offered rewards for information on people leading religious groups or even meeting with people one on one to share the gospel.
