JOB DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS
Responsible To: Principal
Goal: To work with students, teachers, administrators, and parents to design and implement a classroom instructional program that facilitates positive growth and change in the knowledge base, thinking, feeling, and behavior of learners, and leads to responsible Christian discipleship.

Reviews and develops quality Understand by Design units to ensure a common, guaranteed, viable, and relevant curriculum.

Engage positively with other teachers in the review and development of curriculum programs.

Evidence of Learning

Implements assessments that accurately measure student progress of unit learning targets and provide evidence that informs the decision-making process.

Continuously monitor the learning process in the classroom and makes appropriate modifications of lessons and goals.

Engage students and parents in the student’s learning through frequent and meaningful communication. Maintain an attitude of openness and a desire for communication.

Maintains an accurate record in PowerSchool of each student’s learning progress and daily attendance.

Instruction and Learning

Uses the most effective and appropriate instructional practices to support mastery of unit learning targets.

Considers student needs and interests when planning weekly lessons.

Utilizes technology to extend and enrich the unit learning targets.

Coordinates a variety of learning experiences that extend or apply classroom learning.

Designs and maintains a Christ-centered classroom environment that is conducive for learning.

Implements an effective Christ-centered classroom management/discipline program which promotes student learning.

Engage with students in meaningful activities beyond the classroom which extend learning experiences (e.g. organizing field trips, sponsoring parties and/or clubs, coaching).

Contributes positively to the Christ-centered, learning focused school culture and is a productive member in reaching the goals of the School Improvement Plan.

Stays current on educational issues, practices, and trends (e.g. assessment, instruction, technology integration, Biblical integration, etc.).

Openly supports and abides by all school policies and procedures.

Engage with the principal to write and review PPR goal(s) to improve one’s practice.

Qualifications:
-
Demonstrate a continuing sense of God’s direction in working at Morrison Academy.
-
Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree or evidence of working toward it is preferred.

Hold a valid teaching certificate for the subject and grade level to be taught. This certificate must be issued by an authorized agency in the teacher’s home country and/or from the Association of Christian Schools International.

Have completed sufficient college course work in their major teaching field.

Show recent evidence of professional growth.

Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.

Have signed the Morrison Christian Association Statement of Faith.

Have Ministry Partnership (expatriate employees only).

Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment as a teacher at Morrison Academy (expatriate employees only).

Give evidence of previous positive teaching experience.

Previous international travel and/or teaching experience are preferred.
Work Requirements:

40 hours per week minimum, based on a 5-day week.
-
Teacher workdays as specified on the school calendar.
-
Voluntary involvement in co-curricular activities is encouraged and needed.
